Understand Download Benchmark Ranking
Each row in the Report section in Download Benchmark gives a ranking of the number of downloads for your programs compared to other programs in the overall market.
This ranking does not describe the volume of downloads. It is an indication of your program's position among all other comparable programs when ordered by number of downloads. Pour plus d’informations, consultez Mesures.
Your programs and the rest of the market are measured by Triton Digital. Market data is from global podcast downloads, but you can choose to compare your podcast from the top 20 countries where podcasts are downloaded.
Being in the top X% means that your program performs better than 100-X% of podcasts in the same country, date range, and category. In other words, a smaller percentage indicates stronger performance relative to peers.
Exemples :
A ranking of 1% means that your podcast was downloaded more often than 99% of all other comparable podcasts.
50% means that, compared to your podcast, 50% of the other podcasts were downloaded more often and 50% were downloaded less.
To make it easier for you to read and compare rankings, your program’s score is rounded down to one of these percentages: 0.5%, 1%, 3%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 75%, 99.9%.
Minimum Ranking Data
To give a useful ranking, Download Benchmark needs data from a minimum of 100 programs in the same Country, Date range, and Compared Against Category. If there isn’t enough data, Report does not show your program.
If there is not enough data for any of your programs, Report shows a message: “No data could be found for the selected dates and filters”. Try adjusting Filters to include All Countries or choose All Categories.

Filtres
Use Filters to specify which content to compare and the parts of the overall podcast market to compare to.
Filtre de contenu
Use Publisher, Market L1, Market L2, Market L3, and Program to choose your content that you want compared. This filter is required.
Plage de dates
Choose one of the last 4 quarters. This filter is required.
Pays
Choose All Countries or a specific country. Although your content is compared with global data, you can choose from the top 20 countries where podcasts are downloaded.
Compared Against Category
The default is to compare each of your programs to their own category.
Choose All Categories to show your program’s ranking for all podcasts, not just the podcasts in same category as your program.
Choose a single category, to show only your programs in that category. Example: In Content Filter, you specify a Publisher that produces podcasts in Sports, News, and Business. Then in Compare Against Category, you choose Sports. The results in Report shows only the publisher’s podcasts that are in the Sports category, your other podcasts are not compared.
Mesures
Top Program %
Top Program % shows how your program ranks by average monthly downloads in the selected country, date range, and category. Your ranking is calculated by comparing downloads of all of your program’s episodes to all podcasts measured by Triton that meet the same filters. This metric covers episodes in your programs that were downloaded during the selected date range, but this can include episodes that were released before.
Example: A Top Program Percentage of 0.5% means that, on average per month, your program was downloaded more than 99.5% of all other compared podcasts.
1 Day Top Episode %
1 Day Top Episode % shows how your program’s episodes perform on the first day after each of their releases in the selected country, date range, and category. A smaller percentage for 1 Day Top Episode % indicates stronger early audience engagement and launch momentum.
To calculate 1 Day Top Episode %, Triton calculates the average downloads of all of your episodes in the first day after their release. That average is then placed among the average first-day downloads of all other podcasts that meet the same filters. Unlike Top Program %, this metric does not include downloads of episodes that were released before the date range.
7 Days Top Episode %
7 Days Top Episode % shows how your program’s episodes perform during the week (7 days) after their release in the selected country, date range, and category. A smaller percentage indicates your program is bigger in size based on downloads.
To calculate 7 Day Top Episode %, Triton calculates the average downloads of all of your episodes in the first week after their release. That average is then placed among the average 7-day downloads of all other podcasts that meet the same filters. Unlike Top Program %, this metric does not include downloads of episodes that were released before the date range.
30 Days Top Episode %
30 Days Top Episode % shows how your program’s episodes perform during the month (30 days) after their release for the selected country, date range, and category. A smaller percentage indicates your program is bigger in size based on downloads.
To calculate 30 Day Top Episode %, Triton calculates the average downloads of all of your episodes in the first 30 days after their release. That average is then placed among the average 30-day downloads of all other podcasts that meet the same filters. Unlike Top Program %, this metric does not include downloads of episodes that were released before the date range.
