You can use Omny Studio to upload and manage your content then publish your podcasts in Apple Podcasts automatically.

Also, Omny Studio is one of the hosting providers for Apple Podcasts that lets you automatically distribute subscriber content to your Apple Podcasts Subscriptions.

Set up Premium Content and HLS Video for Apple Podcasts

You can connect your Omny Studio organization, networks, and programs to Apple Podcasts Connect accounts. With this method, you can upload and manage podcasts directly in Omny Studio then automatically distribute subscriber content with Apple Podcasts Subscriptions.

Use this method to do these tasks:

  • Publish your Omny premium content to Apple Podcast Subscriptions. You will have to continue to use Apple Podcasts Connect to set up and manage your Apple Subscriptions. For details on Apple’s features and pricing, see Apple Podcasts Subscriptions.

  • Publish video clips in Omny to HLS Video in Apple Podcasts. For details, see How to publish video on Apple Podcasts.

You only need to do this once.

Omny uses an API key from your Apple Podcasts Connect account to make it easy for you to upload and push content updates directly into your Apple Podcasts Connect account.

Step 1: Contact Omny Support

This is an optional feature. To ask about pricing and to activate this feature, please contact Omny Studio Support.

Step 2: Enable Video Podcasting

If you want to work with video content, you must enable video podcasting in Omny Studio. For details, see Enable and Restrict Video Podcasting.

Step 3: Sign up for Apple Podcasts for Creators

To use Apple Podcasts for Creators, you need an account for Apple Podcasts Connect.

To publish your Omny premium content to Apple Podcast Subscriptions, you also need to sign up for the Apple Podcasts Program. You can sign up from your Apple Podcasts Connect account.

If you haven’t already signed up for Apple Podcasts Connect and Apple Podcasts Program, please follow the steps in Create an Apple Podcasts Connect account.

Step 4: Create an Apple API Key

You must create an Apple API key for each Apple Podcasts Connect account that you want to connect to.

  1. In Apple Podcasts Connect, create an API key for Omny Studio. For details, see Publish Apple Podcasts Subscriptions with your hosting provider.

  2. In Omny Studio, find the organization, network, or program that you want to connect. Reportez-vous à Rechercher des éléments.

  3. In Organization settings, Network settings, or Program settings, select Apple settings.

  4. From Apple Podcasts Connect, copy the Issuer ID then paste it into its field in Omny’s Apple settings.

  5. In Apple Podcasts Connect, copy the Key ID then paste it into its field in Omny’s Apple settings.

  6. In Omny Studio, select Upload key then choose the “.pem” file that you downloaded from Apple Podcasts Connect.

  7. Select Save API key.

Step 5: Submit Your Playlists to Apple Podcasts

See Submit Premium Content or HLS Video to Apple Podcasts.

Set Up Non-Premium Playlists for Apple Podcasts

For non-premium content, you can submit the RSS feeds of your Omny playlists to Apple Podcasts. With this method, you use Omny to upload and manage your content while Apple regularly checks for updates to the RSS feeds of your playlists.

Use Apple’s HLS video feature for video podcasts

While you can submit RSS feeds of video-first Omny playlists to Apple Podcasts, HLS video is Apple’s preferred way to distribute video content. For details, see Video podcasts using RSS.

Multiple Apple Podcasts Accounts

For premium content and Apple HLS video, you can connect separate Apple Podcasts Connect accounts to any of your Omny organizations, networks, or programs. These connections are inherited so you can mix and match levels as needed. Example: You can override a program's connection to an Apple Podcasts Connect account that its organization provides by configuring a different connection in the program.

  • Organization settings > Apple settings: Publish your Omny content with a single Apple Podcasts Connect account. All networks and programs in this organization use this connection by default.

  • Network settings > Apple settings:  Publish content from an Omny network to its own Apple Podcast Connect account. This overrides the connection provided by the network’s organization. All programs in this network use this connection by default.

  • Program settings > Apple settings: Publish content from an Omny program to its own Apple Podcast Connect account. This overrides the connection provided by the program’s network or organization.

Apple Podcasts and Omny Analytics

  • Premium content is served by Apple to your subscribers, therefore you can only see subscriber analytics in Apple Podcasts Connect.

  • Non-subscriber content and HLS video is served by Omny Studio, so you can still use Omny analytics features.

Manage Apple API keys

An API key from Apple Podcasts Connect has these items:

  • Key ID: Every API key has its own key ID.

  • Issuer ID: Every API key from the same Apple Podcasts Connect account has this ID.

  • Key file: A file that you download that ends with ".pem". This acts like a password.

Do not share this API key except with the Omny Studio application.

You can cancel an API key by revoking it in Apple Podcasts Connect. Apple Podcasts rejects interactions with a platform, including Omny Studio, that uses a revoked API key. You cannot reuse a revoked API key, you need to create a new one to reconnect to your Apple Podcasts Connect account.

You can only download the key file once from Apple Podcasts Connect. If you lose the key file, you must revoke the API key then create another.

You can remove a revoked Apple API key in an Omny organization, network, or program in its Apple settings by selecting Remove API Key.
